Go Seahawks!!!
After what happened in the Bengals game, I hate the Steelers even more than I did before. (And no, I don't think it was a cheap shot, but it was heartbreaking.) And had Palmer stayed in that game, it's very possible, and very likely, that the Bengals would have jumped to a big lead before the Steelers started playing their game, and who knows, it might have been too late at that point. We can't know, but it was a very disappointing game, and I'd love to see the Seahawks trounce the Steelers.

Well, little bill, what's wrong with hating a football team? It's sports for God's sake. It's not like I wished their plane to go down. I've been a long-time fan of the Cowboys (going back to the Superbowls they played against the Steelers in the 1970's), I was born in Cincinnati, my parents are big fans of the Bengals and had season tickets for many years, so yeah, the Steelers aren't one of my favorite teams.

no fan of football could possibly HATE another team, there is so much wrong with that statement it's incredible. two words Sports and Rivalry, HATE has no place with those two words.
if you don't like one team you cheer for the other, hate doesn't need to be in the equation at all
Whatever! Okay, I don't like the Steelers. I root against the Steelers. I wasn't using hate in any way to indicate that I wished bad things on them (except for them to lose the game!). I sincerely don't want to see their players hurt, I don't want to see their stadium leveled by an earthquake, and I don't want to see their team dismantled or sold to another city. See? Hate is a relative term. So get off of my back.

other then to say HATE is not relative is solely means to absolute detest, irrespective of how incorrectly it is used.. i'm gone, way off "your back"
Maybe I should let this go, but I want one final say in this very strange exchange. One, I didn't start it. You jumped on me for what simply appears to me to be the fact that I don't root for the same team you do. So what! My best friend from work is from Pittsburgh, and is one of those delirious fans for whom the whole world revolves around the Pittsburgh Steelers. I respect his dedication, and he knows I'm not going to root for the Steelers anytime soon. And there is no animosity. When he made some comment about hating the New England Patriots, for whom I couldn't care less about one way or the other, I didn't jump on him about his use of the word "hate." I didn't automatically assume he'd like to see the New England Patriots wiped off the face of the earth. I took the comment for what it was, that it simply meant he wished to see them lose. It's nothing against any of the players on the team, it's nothing against any of the coaches or owners or against any of the fans. He has his loyalties and he has his emotions, and that's that. I didn't read any deeper into it. So, really, what is your problem?! It's exchanges like this that make participating on Internet websites a waste of time. Then you write a "sentence" (and I put that in quotations, because this is no example of any sentence structure I ever learned) like: other then to say HATE is not relative is solely means to absolute detest, irrespective of how incorrectly it is used.. What the heck does that mean? Can anyone decipher that for me? You use big words like "irrespective" to make yourself sound important, when the whole onslaught of words add up to absolutely nothing. I don't root for the Steelers, and you have this huge problem with it. Why didn't you just say, "Sorry for giving you a hard time. It's all right." What the heck is wrong with you?

doug what i was simply trying to put across is that depsite what you said, there is a huge gulf between the sentiments of dislike and hatred, and that i didn't believe that you truly Hated one team just because they beat your favourites. it's not a case of yuo not liking the steelers at all, i'm on many forums where i've been talking to seahawks fans without argument it's just thatone word, i dunno maybe i am jumping the gun on it, maybe i am totally overreacting, but the last couple of days in the media we have been baraged with this onslaught of protests over the whole danish/islamic mess and hearing protestors talk of their hatred for the people responsible, it was shocking for me to see the word then used in respect to a football game What the heck does that mean? Can anyone decipher that for me? You use big words like "irrespective" to make yourself sound important, when the whole onslaught of words add up to absolutely nothing.
as a familiar actor once said , i looked it up
