Glenn Ford was 90. He appeared in more than 100 films. It's hard to believe he was never even nominated for an Academy award!

If you younger types have somehow never seen a Glenn Ford movie outside of Superman: The Movie (1978), please to run out immediately and get copies of Gilda (1946 - Charles Vidor), 3:10 to Yuma (1957 - Delmer Daves) and The Big Heat (1953 - Fritz Lang). I'd recommend those as the three absolute must-sees of his filmography. Two prototypical Noirs and one of the best Westerns of the '50s, and Ford is great in all three, especially as the cool villain in Yuma and the cop blinded by the white-hot rage of revenge in Big Heat. There are certainly other worthwhile movies among the many he appeared in, but those are the three essentials.

Sad news as we loose another movie icon.    I always like Glenn Ford.  Holden Pike is right if you have never seen a Ford movie go out and get at least one of them they are worth the effort.

RIP Glenn.

As they say here " he had a good innings" In other words a pretty good long life .
I always liked him and have fond memories of The Sheepman which showed his comic talent .

He'll be missed. 90 yrs old is no small feat for a Hollywood actor. I mean....he outlived Superman didn't he?

I recently bought The Big Heat on dvd.

He made great westerns but I really liked these kind of roles where he plays a cop as a good family guy. It was always easy to identify with Ford as a regular decent man doing a dangerous/difficult job.
