I just read through the media that Clint has agreed to lend his voice and talent to a new series of video games that are based on his legendary character of "Dirty Harry." Great idea! But someone should also let him know that the world would love him to do the same with his character of "The Man With No Name," from Director Sergio Leone's "Dollar's Trilogy." This character led to the Spaghetti Western craze of the late sixties and early seventies, with many clones of this character. Leone's "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly," is still in the minds and hearts of many and considered one of the best western films of all time. And who could forget the music of Ennio Morricone, who luckily is still with us today. Not only could Clint lend his talent to a project such as this and continue the "MWNN" legacy, it would also pay homage to the late great Sergio Leone. And could we also get Morricone to lend more of his magnificent and timeless western music? Wow, think about this possibility! Can anyone out there possibly get this message to Clint? I'm sure some others out there are thing like me too. Good luck also to Clint at the Oscars!

sounds great! I think they already have something "inspired" by the Man with No Name with the game called Red Dead Revolver. Very spagetti western type game.

Eastwood - Go Ahead, Make My Video Game

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Fans everywhere will be judging how lucky they feel now that Clint Eastwood is bringing the Dirty Harry franchise to video games.

Eastwood will lend his voice and likeness to reprise his internationally famous role of Inspector Harry Callahan. Even more significantly, the Academy Award winner is consulting on key creative aspects of the game design.

"This will be an opportunity to satisfy the many requests over the years to continue the Dirty Harry legacy, only now in the video game medium," Eastwood said. "Creating Dirty Harry video games will also introduce this memorable film character to new generations on a medium they appreciate."

Eastwood's Malpaso Prods. banner is partnering on the project with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which is overseeing development of what will be the first title in a game franchise.

The project is in an early stage, so no release date has been set. However, all of the franchise's titles will be for the imminent next generation of consoles such as Sony's PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox.

Reuters/Hollywood Reporter

I'm glad he'll have creative input and will help oversee the project. At least that way it has potential to be a good game.

This appeared on MovieHole today http://www.moviehole.net/news/5133.html (the webmaster's name is Clint):

Hi Clint,
Love this site. I just read that Clint Eastwood is making a "Dirty Harry" video-game. Does this mean he will do a new "Dirty Harry" movie, too?
WK

WK,
One of Hollywood’s up-and-coming screenwriters is out to convince Clint to return to the role of ‘Dirty Harry’ Callahan. The scribe – who wishes to remain nameless, if only so it doesn’t jinx any prospective film – says his idea for the film would be to have the ageing cop take on a copycat killer. The kicker? The crook is copycatting the crimes of the original film’s villain. Nice. Will it happen? Dunno.

Wow great news  O0 O0

Go for it Clint !
(Anyway I think he already made his decision  8))

I think it's a good idea, and that way die-hard Dirty Harry fans will only be half disappointed about Eastwood's decision not to take up again his role as Dirty Harry Callahan ... at least they will have this game ... to make up for their frustration.

They could name it "Dirty Harry 6" or "DH the return" or "he's back" ^-^

It will be just like in the old times, just as if Eastwood/Callahan was back  O0

I sure will buy it  O0 O0 O0 O0

-Dirty_Harry-, welcome to the Board. I've merged your thread with the one we already had open on the "Dirty Harry" video game. Please do not post news items without giving a source and a link (if available), and if you copy and paste something here, put it between [ quote] [ /quote] tags (without the spaces), or use the "quote" button .

This item seems to have originated with Business Wire, and it can also be read in the link Munny posted, above.

Steven - I merged your topic with one that already existed.

This is a video game set to release in 2006.  If you will look on the IMDb page, you will see that it has (VG) out beside it which indicates that it is a "video game."

Dirty Harry: Quick 'n' Dirty Q&A
We check in with Warner Bros. on the just-announced next-gen series.
by David Adams

February 24, 2005 - Earlier today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced a series of next-generation console games based on the classic Dirty Harry films. The first title, to be developed by an as-yet-undisclosed studio, has the involvement of Clint Eastwood himself, who will provide creative input as well as lend his voice and likeness to the title.

We checked in with Jason Hall, Senior Vice President at Warner Bros. Interactive (and former CEO of Monolith), to get some more Dirty Harry dirt -- at least, as much as Hall is able to offer.

IGN: Did the Dirty Harry project originate at Warner Bros. Interactive, and then involve soliciting Clint Eastwood, or did Eastwood come to you?

Jason Hall: We thought Dirty Harry would be a perfect property and character for video games, and we were delighted to find Clint was more than receptive to collaborating with WBIE on bringing the franchise to gamers.

IGN: What is it like working with Clint Eastwood?

Jason Hall: Clint Eastwood is an absolute gentleman. We are excited to get the chance to work with such a creative legend and look forward to working with him more as we progress in the development of the game.

IGN: Will the Dirty Harry games recreate the plots of the films, or are you working on original storylines?

Jason Hall: The games will have original storylines based on the established character and world from the films.

IGN: Have you recruited anyone else from the original Dirty Harry crew, along with Eastwood?

Jason Hall: Our partnership with Clint Eastwood is all we are announcing now.

IGN: How will Dirty Harry play? Are we looking at a straight-forward action title, or maybe something along the lines of Grand Theft Auto, as EA seems to be doing with The Godfather?

Jason Hall: We will have more game details to announce soon.

IGN: You've announced Dirty Harry as a next-generation console game. What will distinguish the game as distinctly next-gen?

Jason Hall: Those details will be disclosed later.

IGN: Does Warner Bros. have other classic films set to be reborn in games?

Jason Hall: You'll have to wait for future announcements but rest assured we are taking a close look at all of our options.

IGN: Most importantly, for our records, what's your favorite Dirty Harry film?

Jason Hall: All of them!

I've heard about this project.  The only interesting part of that interview is that they are working with Clint, the rest of it is a waste.  He can't answer anything about the game itself and then won't even man up to single out his favorite "Harry".

i'd say thats cause the game will try and incorporate parts from all the movies into one game.

It probably will, but his answer to the favorite "Harry" question sounds like typical PR speak to me.

I don't have a games system (unless you count my PC). I will be eager to see this game when it is released. It would be good if they didn't make it too far fetched, but I guess that could be the case.

sounds great! I think they already have something "inspired" by the Man with No Name with the game called Red Dead Revolver. Very spagetti western type game.

I'm a video game junky! and yes, I have Red Dead Revolver too, the character Red is very similar to Eastwood... and the music is very Morricone like as well.
Fun game!

I can't wait for the Dirty Harry game... I hope it comes out for Xbox.. cuz that's what I got.  ::)

Oh by the by... here is Red.. and how similar he looks to Clint...

I hope they include a level based on that miniature car that pursues Harry in The Dead Pool;D I watched that film again the other night and love that sequence, such a clever variation on the standard car chase schtick. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the whole movie!
