I might be the only one here who still buys records.
I think that a good clean album sounds much better then a CD. If you have a turntable and a cd player try this out. Get a CD and a good condition record of the same recording and compare the two. You might be surprised. I just bought some records to add to my collection.

Unfortunately we don't get a choice down here.If you want an album on vinyl you have to go to a store that specializers in them which there isn't many and they're imported from overseas,so the price is almost double what you pay for a CD.

Years ago whenever I went into the city,I would make my way around to all the second hand record stores to pick up a bargain or two.Sadly most of those stores no longer exist.

I got a new turntable for my birthday in October and have been playing just as many of my old vinyl collection as much as my CD's.

Hey! Good for you Richard, I still have my deck (Thorens) permanently rigged up to my Amp, which I updated a couple of weeks ago. Was test driving some of my vinyl just to hear how it sounds with the new amp, and some of that vinyl does beat the CD equivalent, no doubt about it. I don't tend to buy any new vinyl material but like to pick up some classics from time to time and still have a lot of my original vinyl collection. I think the last album I brought was Sammy Davis Live at the Coconut Grove from 62 or 63 I think?

I agree 100% Richard... I think in most cases good quality vinyl played on a quality deck beats cd's hands down.  I listen to a lot of jazz and there's just no comparrison. Especialy with all the Blue Note stuff.. and those Reprise label recordings are out of this world on disc. I still try and buy vinyl whenever possible.. tho' I do think cd quality has improved a little over the years.

I do remember being very dissapointed with the Beatles on cd.. nowhere near the quality of the vinyl releases...

Conway Twitty - Look Into My Teardrops. It is a recording from 1966 on Decca records. The sound of the recording is incredible. Those old Decca Mono records always sound so good to me.
Tom Petty - Self titled album from 1976. It sill holds it's own with songs like "Breakdown" and "American Girl".
Led Zeppelin - Presence 
AC/DC - Highway To Hell- One of the greatest rock guitar albums in my opinion.
Duke Ellington- I cannot remember the name of the record. My wife is asleep and I dare not wake her to get an LP title. She will look like this   It is Duke and it will be good.
