Clint Eastwood's words of wisdom: "Take your profession seriously; don't take yourself seriously. Don't take yourself seriously in the process, because you really only matter to a certain degree in the whole circus out here."

Hi all,

A couple of nice little pieces from YouTube.

A brief interview with Clint in 1980

A clip of the new West Point DVD, an episode of which features Clint.

Hello again JSE, nice to see you back here again.

Thanks for sharing the links.  Both really good, I had not seen any of them before.

Have you came across a "Making of" The Gauntlet on your travels?

Hi Davy,

I've not seen the Making of The Gauntlet either, I'm still keeping an eye out for anything I haven't got...I'll have to get around to posting a complete list of what I have that isn't available on DVD for trading. Recently found a copy of that 'At Home With Clint Eastwood' short on tape which I've converted to DVD. The quality isn't great as I guess someone took it from the 16mm but it is good to have a copy anyway, especially Clint in 1970!

Hi Davy,

I've just noticed that there is a 60 minute DVDR someone is selling called Behind the Scenes: Volume 4 that apparently contains behind the scenes of the making of:

Emporer of the North, The Train Robbers, Mc Q, Magnum Force, The Gauntlet, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Class of 44 and Dog Day Afternoon

I've emailed and asked if they know how long the making of segment for The Gauntlet is so will let you know what they come back with. Have you seen this one before?

I found this clip the other day of the Dirty Harry San Francisco premiere in December 1971.

Clint says a few words to the crowd. It would be great to see more!

Thanks, JSE! That was posted a while back in the Dirty Harry forums (http://www.clinteastwood.org/forums/index.php?topic=8917.0), but it doesn't hurt to repeat it here. Good stuff.

That Gauntlet video was great. I think this generation forgets how rare it was to see behind the scenes footage such as this. Check Clint out, running into the fire to save a camera O0

The Gauntlet takes a lot of stick but i love it and always have. This video has just put me in the mood to watch it again. Why oh why aren't these little gems part of DVD/Bluray releases ?

Thanks davy and JSE. O0 It was really fantastic seeing those.  :) I find it so frustrating that stuff like this is never included in the DVDs. :(

Here's a good video of Clint receiving the People's Choice award for "Favorite Motion Picture Actor" 1987.

Clint was of course Mayor of Carmel at the time so couldn't attend the award show so he is in Carmel receiving it...what he says 20 seconds in made me laugh a lot!

Yeah!  What tickled me was the laughter behind the camera and Clint then having to keep a straight face.  A nice moment.

I just made this video to illustrate my final project in college.
is about the persona of Clint Eastwood.
It contains several passages and clichés of his films.
