In which film does Clint 'despatch' the highest number of bad guys - and how many?

A reasonable guess, Canadian Lady - but incorrect!

I remember hearing a long time ago that it was The Outlaw Josey Wales, but that was a long time ago.  Not that Clint has made a lot of recent movies like that.  So, anyway, that's my first guess.   ???

I must admit, TT, that I watched The Outlaw Joey Wales on Saturday night and Mr. Wales certainly plugged a vast array of bad asses, but, I'm afraid you are incorrect...

It's Where Eagles Dare ... we had this discussion a long time ago, maybe on the old Board. I looked briefly this morning, but couldn't find the website where the totals are given.

Where Eagles Dare is spot on!
Most people automatically think of one of the Westerns...

The answer given was 38 Nazis attributed to Clint alone. Can any of you afficienados out there confirm that total?

Highland Plains Drifter, do you have a link? I found the information in several places (including the film synopsis on this site) but I couldn't find the number of kills.

As I recall, when we had this discussion before, there was a site for movie kills that gave the numbers for many major films. I can't find it now ... there's a "Movie Body Counts site" at http://www.moviebodycounts.com/ , but it doesn't include ANY Eastwood films.

I'm afraid I don't have a link, KC. It was a competetion, and the DJ didn't cite a source.
Come to think of it, Clint was knocking out Jerries by the barrowload during that scene in the castle, so 38 might not be far off.

Incidentally, that Moviebodycount site looks pretty useless - I mean no Eastwood films! - Amateurs!!

As KC had mentioned above we have had this discussion once before back on the old old board I believe.  At that time I remember having the count of Josey Wales at 46-48? somewhere around there....

I am about to pop in my VHS copy of The Outlaw Josey Wales and will get a count. It will be fun.

After the Where Eagles Dare movie night last week just to clear things up a bit, and to have my fun, I decided to go back and get an official body count.  Schaffer is single handily responsible for 57 kills.  Schaffer and Mary combine to kill 10 as a team.

The break down:

Schaffer single handily:

#1 One goon (Throwing the guy out of the car.)
#2 One goon (Knife to the throat.)
#3 Radio Operator (Silenced Walther PPK to the stomach.  “Hello” #1)
#4 Helicopter Pilot (Knife in the back.)
#5 SS-Sturmbannführer von Happen (Silenced Walther PPK to the head.)
#6 SS-Standartenführer Kramer (Silenced Walther PPK to the chest.)
#7 General Rosemeyer (Silenced Walther PPK to the chest.)
#8 Lt. Anne-Marie Kernitser (Silenced Walther PPK in the back.)
#9 Clerk (Silenced Walther PPK to the chest.  “Hello” #2)
#10 One goon (Silenced Walther PPK to the chest.)
#11-14 Four goons in hallway. (MP-40.)
#15 One goon on stairway. (MP-40.)
#16 One goon on the floor. (Blind shot around the corner with MP-40)
#17-18 Machine gunner and ammo belt guy (Wielding duel MP-40’s Schwarzenegger style.)
#19 One goon (Potato Masher.)
#20-23 Four goons coming up the stairs (MP-40, should have been “Hello” #3)
#24-29 One officer and five goons (Time delayed dynamite charges.)
#30-31 Two goons (Blown out the window/concussion/gravity.)
#32-33 Two goons (On fire/combustion.)
#34-36 Three goons (Schaffer’s booby trap/dynamite)
#37-48 One officer and eleven goons (Time delayed dynamite charges on Gondola=Monster Kill)
#49-51 Three goons (After setting charges on bridge.  MP-40/VW filp)
#52-54 Three goons (VW Bridge blow up)
#55-57 Three goons (MP-40 out the back of the bus/VW flip)

Schaffer and Mary’s combine count:

#1-3 Three goons (MP-40’s out the back of the bus.)
#4-5 Two goons (MP-40’s out the back of the bus.)
#6-9 Four goons (MP-40’s out the back of the bus.)
#10 Air traffic controller (MP-40’s out the back of the bus.)

Thanks for payndz's YouTube post for helping me out!

"Movie Body Counts" now credits Schaffer with 73 kills in Where Eagles Dare. However, they may not have done quite such exhaustive research. ;)

I'm not sure I understand that chart! For instance, it says:

Quote
Kelly's Heroes (1970) (act): 139, as Pvt. Kelly-16
As Actor is 139 but Eastwood playing Kelly takes care of 16? Do they mean the total body count for the movie is 139?

I think it means the total body count for Kelly's Heroes is 139; Clint's part in it was as an actor, and in his role as Pvt. Kelly, he has 16 kills.

The list also includes films that Clint only directed, like Flags of Our Fathers (body count 93, but none for Clint personally).

Oh, "act" probably means actual... I was thinking they meant it to mean "as actor" based on what they listed above the list!
