I think those are the same glasses he had in Coogan's Bluff and Play Misty for Me.

Thanks for the reply.  For some reason, the shades are always associated with "Dirty Harry."  For years, I've heard people talk about how cool the shades were in "Dirty Harry,"nobody ever mentioned "Coogan's Bluff," but they looked the same to me.  I hadn't thought of "Play Misty..." though.  Thanks for the mention; I'll have to check that out too.  So, if they are the same shades, then they aren't so exclusive to the "Dirty harry" character as we thought.

It really looks like the same one he wore in Coogan's Bluff.

Maybe they were Clint's personal sunglasses during that time?
I think they were known as the "Dirty Harry sunglasses" because it was a very famous role and he was quite badass.

That could be.  After you mentioned "Play Misty..." I checked that and, as you mentioned,  those look the same too.  It's no big deal, but I find that very interesting.  It would be like finding out that Burt Reynolds drove a black Trans-Am in two movies prior to "Smokey and the Bandit."

To the casual observer like me, these shades look like the ones he wore in Coogan's Bluff; are they different?

Just don't go for the cheap imitation.  They're Ray Ban Baloramas and those are not cheap.  If you can get them *new* for about $120 or less, then it's a good deal.  I had a pair and wore them while watching Dirty Harry.  Once you do that, then you know it's the real deal.  Cheap imitations won't have the same look and feel.

Check it out:

Here's a pair on eBay now (used):

Maybe he wanted to feel like Dirty Harry.   :)
I'm still hellbent on finding out what glasses he wore in The Gauntlet.

Yeah, but it wasn't at a movie house but my house on dvd and after the debate whether the shades were Baloramas or not.  Maybe I'll do The Enforcer ones when I pop in The Enforcer next or I get it on BD.  The days of wearing shades everywhere to hide my blood shot eyes or where they were looking at are long gone.  LOL.

My point is get a *genuine* DH pair of shades as worn by Clint in DH (or CB or PMFM) or TE.  You can even get a pair of Gargoyles like Clint wore in Sudden Impact.    You don't have to watch the movie with them on, but you could.  Now that's the real deal.

I was looking for top half frame styles from the late 70s, but could not find  >:(.  Possibly Foster Grants because of the tinting.

However, I did find another picture of them.  Nice poster though Shockley is no Dirty Harry.

Here's why Ben Shockley is no Harry Callahan, but he's still tough like Timex as he takes a lickin' but keeps on tickin' ;D.

Hi All--
I noticed there was a thread devoted to Harry's shades, but I wanted to start a new thread as I recently found something interesting:

http://www.ray-ban.com/usa/sunglasses/rb4125/824-51

These look to me to be the same shades that Clint wore for THE ENFORCER.  Can anybody confirm this?
