Fred Ward, who played one of the Anglin brothers in Escape from Alcatraz, has died at the age of 79. I always think of him and Kevin Bacon in Tremors. The article states that "his first major role" was Escape from Alcatraz.

Bummer. Despite his upside-down ears, I've always liked him. I've always wanted to watch a film in which Bernthal plays a boxer and Ward plays his ex-boxer father. It's not going to happen now, and I can't believe he was already 79:(
