Eastwood Films on DVD/Blu-Ray (Upcoming Releases, News, Reviews etc)

It's cool to see a complete Eastwood collection is being released. I have quite a few on DVD, of course, so it's not something I'd want to get. But it looks like it'll be nicely packaged.

I agree with KC, I’ll wait until they’re all available on Blu-ray.  It makes no sense to release this set with even just one movie in dvd format, never mind seven!  I’m used to disappointment, though.  The entire TOS Star Trek television and movie series is available in one set, sans the Director’s Edition of the first movie, which was an improvement over the original! 

My guess is that the Signature Collection will see re-release with all films on Blu-ray format with the inclusion of Richard Jewell.

I just saw a new Blu-ray of Breezy is coming August 25 through Kino Lorber. I checked their website and Amazon but didn't see this listed there, so here's the description from their Facebook page:

Beautifully shot on location in Los Angeles by Frank Stanley (1941, The Eiger Sanction), Breezy features a lovely score by Michel Legrand (The Thomas Crown Affair) and a wonderful screenplay by Jo Heims (Play Misty for Me).

I like Breezy. I've seen it a couple times and I think I'm always a bit surprised by how much I like it. I might pick this up--it'd be good to check out the commentary for it too.

The two different cuts is interesting here. IMDb lists the runtime as being the international cut, so I guess that's the only one I've seen before. Was it released nearly ten minutes shorter?

That synopsis falls short of full accuracy on a number of points.

How many inaccuracies do you see? Might be fun to point them out!

The major one is that this movie cemented Clint as a superstar. That's definitely untrue. The spaghetti westerns are what brought Clint to worldwide notoriety, which was accentuated by the success of "Dirty Harry," not this movie. Also, the romance didn't happen until the very end, so it's inaccurate to say they had a steaming romance during the course of the movie.

I have Two Mules on DVD in a three pack with High Plains Drifter and Joe Kidd, so I probably won't pick this one up. But I'm thinking about preordering Breezy on Blu-ray.

"In the Line of Fire" is being released in 4K HDR on June 15, 2021. I have been wanting to see this in 4K for a long time. You used to be able to stream it in 4K on Amazon, but I think the license expired, so  that's not possible now. I'm definitely looking forward to this!

In The Line of Fire has been remastered from the original camera negative for its 4K debut and will include HDR10.

Additionally an all-new Dolby Atmos audio track will be included alongside the original theatrical 5.1 mix.

I've never ventured into 4K releases yet, but I guess that may eventually become the norm (I don't currently have a 4K TV or player). Glad to see Eastwood movies getting those releases.

I was thinking about upgrading to blu-ray for some Eastwood movies. This set would be a cheap way of picking up seven Universal movies:



It has Two Mules for Sister Sara, Joe Kidd, High Plains Drifter (I have the DVD set of those three), Coogan's Bluff, The Beguiled, Play Misty for Me, and The Eiger Sanction

This isn't a new set, but was just browsing and wanted to mention it. I've been collecting since well before Blu-ray was a thing, but I'd like to get some HD versions of some of these movies, and this set looks good. There are individual releases for some of these that probably have some good extra features, but this would be a bit more economical. Has anyone else made it a point to collect Eastwood movies on blu-ray or 4K? AKA mentioned the In the Line of Fire 4K release a couple months ago, and I see that's about to come out!

I was trying to think what Eastwood movies I have on Blu-ray, and I can only think of Sully right now.

I've posted about the Breezy Blu-ray in this thread before, and I finally ordered it. And I don't have a 4K player, but this release of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly includes a Blu-ray, and both discs feature the theatrical cut. I already have the extended version on Blu-ray so I wanted the theatrical version as well. So that's a movie that I've owned on VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K.

Kino Lorber announced this on their social media but it's not listed on their website yet. It's supposed to come out May 3. Eastwood's first credited role is in Francis in the Navy, which is the sixth movie of this series. I remember watching a VHS of the first movie, but I don't think I've seen any of the others. Also something to look out for if you're an Eastwood completist, which is why I'm posting it here.

I bought a similar DVD box set a few years ago just for the one film. My box set only has 6 movies, I think it?s has all the sequels not the original film.

That reminds me that I still haven't watched Revenge of the Creature that I have in the Creature from the Black Lagoon collection.

I have seen the other films years ago. Every Saturday after the football season was over when I was a kid, one of the channels would play all the Abbott and Costello, Marx Brothers, Ma and Pa Kettle and Francis the talking mule movies.
