RIP Terry Jones. Life of Brian is one of my all-time favorite movies, and top 3 favorite comedies. As for Kobe ... I spent 20 years rooting against him and the Lakers, but his death has hit hard. I'm not even sure I know exactly why. I guess because you feel like a guy is always going to be around and because he seemed nearly indestructible, even when he tore his Achilles, because he always came back. And he really had just entered the prime of his life. Not as an athlete, of course, but as a person, as an ambassador of the game, a promoter of women sports, a father, a husband, and an inspiration. He was always flawed, as a player and a person, but he was always more driven than just about anybody who's ever played sports, harder working, more focused, and totally fearless. I'm still in shock and I still can't believe it. It doesn't sound right even saying he died. And that his daughter died too just makes this all the more tragic. I feel really terrible for his family and the families of all those killed in this crash.
