There's a darkness inside all of us ...

Dexter is easily the best show on TV at the moment. With the current cinema trend of dumbing down for teen audiences it's refreshing to see the small screen stepping up and producing quality like this.
Yeah, but then again, it's Showtime. And by that I don't mean that other networks suck, but they don't really evolve over time. They are not as inclined to take risks as much as private networks like Showtime or HBO are. On ABC, CBS or NBC, it's always one more cop show, one more medical show, one more sitcom. And that's it. Looking at quality and content, Showtime always seems to be one step ahead of all of the other (public) networks. This is what quality TV is supposed to look like, in my opinion: edgy, bold, daring, original, off-the-beaten-path types of shows like Californication, The United States of Tara, The Tudors, The L Word, This American Life, Weeds, Nurse Jackie... Their slogan says it all, even though it might sound a bit pretentious to some: TV. At its Best. I'm at season 4 of Dexter right now One of the main reasons why I like the show is that it is extremely well filmed, and also very dark both in terms of content and visually (something that I really really like). And of course like you mentioned above ladies, Michael C. Hall is a very handsome devil, which doesn't hurt

Aline, where are you at in the series ??
I got the three firsts seasons on dvd. Season three was worth just for the cover, it's the best cover in my opinion, glossy and the close up worked nice but it's my least favorite season in terms of plot. Miguel Prado was boring. I'm getting to download the 4th season from a website and I'm loving it. Yesterday I watched the "Dirty Harry" episode. I liked the previous one too where he got the female cop who killed her family. Don't know if you agree, but I liked they cast Keith Carradine for a role in season 2 and again in season 4. He is very handsome in his sixties. Unfortunately we know what happens to his character Season four is the last one? I'll miss the show

Season 1 and 2 is great, but I felt that season 3 was a bit dull. Maybe it was because Doakes wasn't around anymore, and Prado wasn't as much in control of his plans and actions as the previous ones. Lithgow is brilliant as Trinity though When I watch Dexter, it's usually with a few of my friends, where we sit down and watch 3-4 episodes in a row. I think it's the dark humor, combined with a whole slew of interesting supporting characters (not counting Masuka in the interesting department though ) the fascination about serial killers, and great acting that has made this show what it is today. I've half considered grabbing the books from time to time, but I really don't want to spoil the joy of watching the tv series by knowing how it might all end... I don't know if Season 4 is going to be the last one. As far as I know there are only 3 dexter books, and season 4 was written along with Jeff Lindsay, so I reckon that if the fourth season ends on a high note, anything is possible...
