My username is pretty obvious. A character from my favorite Eastwood film.

Of course there are a lot of members here who usernames don't have a connection to Eastwood at all. My original username was like that, until I changed it, like you have Bruce. :)

Aline is my real name and it has no relation to Clint except that years later I joined the forum, an unknown actress called Aline Levasseur played his daughter in Unforgiven.
I loved that fact and I still wonder how he pronunciates the name :)

My screen name refers to an assistant district attorney in Sudden Impact.  Back in ’99 when I first started lurking on the old board I was working part time as a paralegal and thought it would be my own little inside joke.  I always found the relationships between Harry and the court (law and order) interesting and I like the little interaction between Harry and Dambrosia in Sudden Impact.  It’s a great introduction for Harry in that movie.  Walking briskly down the hall.  Late for court.  The look of disgust on the judges faces as he arrives.  The “old story” speech.  And of course the payoff confrontation with Hawkins in the elevator to which Dambrosia simply states:  "You’re a class act Callahan.  A real class act…”

Always puts a smile on my face.

But anyway, I never thought anyone would ever pick up on it but it was only a matter of time, and I think it was KC who figured it out, but eventually members started catching on.

I remember the day I signed up for the board and it was in responce to the classic old sunglasses thread about the Ray Ban Balaromas that Agent and I went around on.  I was trying to come up with something decent and I never did understand these numbers with your Username and so on so I just scanned over the list of characters to Clint’s movies and a light went off when I came across that one…  That’s it…

well, long story.

Palooka is a boxing term for a no hoper. First really used in On The Waterfront in the famous "I coulda been a contender" speech. It crops up in other movies like Pulp Fiction too. Before that it was the name for a cartoon strip in the 1930's "Joe Palooka" (this is where the boxing reference came from)

but really, Palooka is the name of my wife's teddy bear.

So to sum up. My screen name is my wife's teddy bear.

Firefox was the first Eastwood film I saw at a cinema.. so I went with Gant. Still glad I did.

Plus the fact I speak fluent Russian... so there was a connection there.

Lin is part of my real name becasue I couldn't think of anything Clint related at the time and now it is too late to change it because that is how I am known after 5 years of posting.  :)

That's nice, Gant. I think russian a gorgeous language, maybe it was after I heard Clint speaking a little of it in Firefox :)
Once I said to a friend I wanted to take some russian language lessons as he replied: "For what, it's totally useless! Learn french, instead."

I got a lot of incentive, didn't I? :P

Nope, nothing to do with the Eastwood movie. My screen name was inspired by the film of the same name  :)

My signature (and personal text below my avatar), on the other hand, are very much Eastwood-related  8)
