I started watching the US game from about the 70 minute mark to the end. Tough loss!

As soon as I saw that Ricardo Clark was starting, I knew it was over. I put my head in my hands and waited for the US to concede another early goal, and sure enough in just 5 minutes they did, and sure enough it was because of Clark. I just had this feeling they weren't going to come back from this one, not against Ghana.

Germany 4  England 1

England were absolutely shocking :(

Pure garbage >:(

Fabio Capello's men suffered their worst-ever defeat at a World Cup in the 4-1 thrashing :'(

England deserved to lose >:(

Three Lions more like three pussies ;D

More bad calls today. Really bad ones. However, I thought the better team won both matches today, and would have won either way even if the proper calls were made.

Now that  England and Mexico are out, I'm quite happy. Can't stand either of those teams.

At the end of every game of this new phase, the tv channel where I watch the games, shows this short clip that I find hilarious. This one was after the game Holland vs Slovakia.
Be attentive to The Good the Bad and the Ugly theme at the beginning.

I'm sorry, it's very bad quality since I took it from a public screen during an unstable transmission and I wasn't able to find the clip anywhere in the net.

Hope it works. Click on the image and a window will open.
It's called "The Vuvuzelas Duel" :D

8)

The last few weeks, every morning walking into the lunchroom at work at 5:30am and these games are being played, that's the first thing I hear. The first day I thought it was attack of the bees.

I've wondered how people feel coming out of games with that blaring for 90 minutes.

Quote
A two year-old octopus "Paul", the so-called "octopus oracle" predicts Germany's victory in their World Cup last 16 clash against England by choosing a mussel, from a glass box with the German flag instead of a glass box with the England flag, at the Sea Life Aquarium in the western German city of Oberhausen June 25, 2010. "Paul" has so far rightly predicted Germany's first round victories over Ghana and Australia as well as Germany's defeat against Serbia.

Good luck to Germany, they deserved their win... tho I think me, our dog and the very elderly Mrs Smith who lives on the corner would've given them a tougher match...

But I can't see them beating Argentina who are playing superb football at the moment.. a real joy to watch...second only to Brasil.....

Gant, I bet your dog's not a german shepherd and Mrs Smith can outpace Wayne Rooney ;D

Well Done Spain 8)

Portugal were a disappointment and Ronaldo played like he was part of the England squad  ;)

I still fancy Brazil to win it :)

I don't think no European team has ever won a World Cup outside of Europe and this world cup tournament has been all about the
South American teams :)

Upcoming matches - Quarter-finals:

Netherlands vs. Brazil  - 2 Jul 3:00pm (United Kingdom Time)

Uruguay vs. Ghana  - 2 Jul 7:30pm (United Kingdom Time)

Argentina vs. Germany  - 3 Jul 3:00pm (United Kingdom Time)

Paraguay vs. Spain  - 3 Jul 7:30pm (United Kingdom Time)

7 out of the 8 group winners advance. Not surprising really. I figured all 8 would go through.

And for next ??    ::)

According to today's TV news, it was Germany that England birth's octopus called Paul chose after having considered over 45 minutes whether Argentina and German which will win ? !!!   :D
Over 45 minute's Paul's considered meaning that this match will be very difficult and may bring it into extra time and the penalty shoot-out.  !! ?? :o :D

Sorry Aline :(

I did go for Brazil to Win 'The World Cup' but sadly the pre-tournament favourites are now out :(

The disbelief of Brazil going out of the world cup is hard to take-in but The Netherlands produced a stunning second-half comeback to reach the semi-finals.

Brazil went down to 10 men and then played without any discipline or flair and just could not get back in the game.

In the second World Cup quarter-final game, Uruguay won Ghana 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw :)

Uruguay have reached the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time since 1970.

The first semi-final tie will be Uruguay against the Netherlands. :)
