Go On, Make Your Day!

In about 19 hours (it's almost midnight here) celebrating a birthday for a friend at my favorite Thai restaurant. 

Rescheduled. Well, it's something to look forward to on Friday, anyway.

Well, this isn't exactly about something making my day, but the snow on Thursday seems to have made Duke's day! 



Duke is a doggie I encountered in Central Park ... I know his name is Duke, because the lady holding the leash kept calling him that. She wanted him to go another way, but Duke was having none of it!

Aren't they even on a path? Is he leading her through the a foot of snow?

I think they started out on a path. Not sure they were, at that point!

It seems like half of my days this year have been spent visiting the doctor, having scans, getting chemo, and even spending the night in our local hospital. When I'm not busy with those minor details of life, I'm having fun within my limitations. Today we took the boys and went to Putt-Putt and played two rounds of mini-golf. It was fun! Following are some other things that have made my day (and more) recently.

I am the director of a church youth club called Pathfinders. We are part of a world-wide organization. Recently we participated in an activity along with other clubs from our part of Indiana. The first weekend in May we will have a state-wide gathering where we all camp together and socialize. We'll also show off our terrible marching skills and have fun doing all sorts of outdoor activities. The picture is of most of my club. I think we were short two boys that day.



My son was the prop manager for his school's play in February. They did The Diary of Anne Frank and I made Anne's diary for them. I even sewed the pages in. I went to see the play the night after I got out of the hospital. It was worth the effort as they did a really good job. The following Monday my son came home with the diary and gave it back to me. Every member of the cast and crew had written in it especially for me. It was a rather moving experience.

 

For the past two or three weeks I have been visited regularly by Mr. Cardinal. He likes it when I whistle at him, he knocks on the window for my attention, and seems to enjoy watching me drive Mariokart 8. Recently he has brought his Lady Love with him. I don't expect to see him much now that the trees are starting to leaf out and nest building is in full swing.



Last Monday my older son was inducted into the Leroy F. Yoder chapter of the National Honor Society. Out of 40 inductees, there were only six boys. We all enjoyed the reception that followed.

That was a lovely post, Elizabeth77! I am really happy to hear about the bright moments in your life.

I hear the cardinals calling in Central Park most every day, but seldom if ever do I get to glimpse one. You are lucky to have one come calling!

Hi Elizabeth! Great to see you again! Nice post and pics. I hope you're doing well! I know you're in our thoughts and prayers.

My good post of the day is that I had knee replacement surgery about 5-6 weeks ago, and I'm starting to get off the pain killers, at least I think so. I tried to go cold turkey yesterday, and wound up giving in just before midnight. But, if I can get down to one a day, that will be better. It's not an addiction thing, I just don't feel good with all the drugs in my system so want to get back to normal as soon as possible.  (AKA should enjoy seeing this.)
