I tuned in to the end of this program wondering if Matt Damon would mention Clint and he did.  The special was a cross between a tribute and roast and Damon in turn poked jabs at some of the stars & friends that paid tribute to him.  When he got to Clint, he said, "I'm not gonna f*** with you, man" which drew laughs from the attendees (and myself).  Damon did go on to mention that Eastwood hasn't received the American Cinematheque Award and went on to tell a funny story about Clint being the only person to ever turn down an AARP Lifetime Achievement Award.  This took place during the making of Hereafter.  Matt relayed the story with a passable Eastwood impression and when Matt said he asked why he turned it down, says Clint told them they (AARP) already gave it to him 2 years ago, they just forgot about it!  Too funny.

Brian, what in the world is "Hollywood Salutes Matt Damon"? Is there an organization involved here, and if so, what?

From what I understand, this was a television event hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, presenting Matt Damon with the American Cinemateque Award.

Ah, OK. According to this, Eastwood took part in the original presentation, which happened back on March 27:

The program also featured "Taped Message from: President William Jefferson Clinton, George Clooney, Ben Stiller."

According to this news story, Sarah Silverman was also among the guests. I wonder if she's still, er, dating Matt Damon?  :o

Clint was at the event and talked about Matt earlier in the televised show.

The opening part of Clint's speech is available in the video at ET Online:

Ok, thanks KC & stuckonlife.  I just happened to come across it last night while channel-surfing.  I missed Clint's appearance, unfortunately.  The program was okay, not great but far better than those horrible "roasts" I've seen on Comedy Central.

I think one of the funniest bits was when he (Clint) said he would shut up because he felt he had talked more during the Matt Damon saulte than he had in his last three films!!  Funny stuff!
