Every time a list of the all-time greatest films is released it garners plenty of attention and discussion. For instance, the Sight & Sound poll, which that magazine runs every ten years. We discussed the latest one here. So we thought we'd have our own little poll here on the Board. Here's how it works: Post your all-time top ten greatest films (Clint Eastwood films are allowed, but not required). We would suggest following the same guidelines as those supplied by Sight & Sound: As a qualification of what ‘greatest’ means, our invitation letter stated, “We leave that open to your interpretation. You might choose the ten films you feel are most important to film history, or the ten that represent the aesthetic pinnacles of achievement, or indeed the ten films that have had the biggest impact on your own view of cinema.” Each film on your list will be worth one point in the poll, so it doesn't matter what order your list is in. At the end of September, I'll compile the results to see what are the top ten films among those we've voted for. After September, if other/new members wish to post their top ten, we'll revise the list every so often to keep it up to date. That's it. Pretty simple.

i wonder how may Scorsese ilms Holden would've listed in his top 10...
It was a tough call leaving Firefox out... but I stand by my list
I've seen Holden's top ten list. I don't remember all the films he put on it, but I know Goodfellas was the only Scorsese movie. I think he has Chinatown at number one. You made a good list. I've never seen Wages of Fear, but it looks like something worth checking out. I just broke my list down my decade, it was the only way to narrow it down.

Thanks Doug... It was very tough for me leaving out Josey Wales, King of Comedy, any Cassavettes movies, Touch of Evil, Rear Window, Don't Look Now.. the list is endless but in the end these were the films that had the greatest impact on me as Ive seen them over the years... films that have stayed with me, some even since childhood...
